UKC Conformation Classes
All of the following classes are offered at UKC Conformation
shows. They are listed in the order that they will be Judged.
Puppy Class:
Male or Female, For dogs 6 months of age and under one year, that have not
earned their Champion title.
Junior Class:
Male or Female, For dogs one year of age and under 2 years, that have not
earned their Champion title.
Senior Class:
Male or Female, For dogs 2 years of age and under 3 years, that have not
earned their Champion title.
Adult Class:
Male or Female, For dogs 3 years of age and older, that have not earned their
Champion title.
Breeder/Handler Class:
Male or Female, For dogs 6 months of age and older that have not earned
their Champion title, and are handled by a breeder of record at UKC, or by a
member of the immediate family of the breeder of record. (Immediate family
member is defined as a spouse, parent, child, step child, step parent, brother
or sister.)
Baiting of dogs in the ring is at the discretion of each Judge. Usually
there will be a dry erase board at the entrance to each ring with "Bait
Yes" or "Bait No" written by Judge's name. Bait includes squeekers as
well as food products, and NEVER to be thrown. Anyone violating these
rules will be excused from the ring.
Professional Handlers  are not allowed at UKC events, unless they are
exhibiting a dog that they own and are owner of record at UKC.
Grooming, Grooming Tools & Products are NOT allowed in the ring.
Anyone violating these rules will be excused from the ring.
Best Male/Female Class:
For all 1st place winners of above classes. Best Male will be awarded from
these dogs, a Reserve Best Male will be awarded from the remaining dogs and
the 2nd place winner from the Best Male's class.
All of the above classes will then be held for Females.
Best of Winners Class:
For Best Male and Best Female. Winner of this class will continue on to the
Best of Breed class. Only held if both sexes have competed.
Champion Class:
For all Males and Females that are Champions of record at UKC. Judge will
select a Best Champion and a Reserve Best Champion, only the winner of this
class will continue on to the Best of Breed Class.
Grand Champion Class:
For all Males and Females that are Grand Champions of record at UKC. Judge
will select one winner in this class.
Best of Breed Class:
This class shall consist of the winner of the Grand Champion Class, the
winner of the Champion Class, and winner of the Best of Winners Class, if
BOW was not held, Best Male or Best Female will compete in this class.
All of the following classes MAY or MAY NOT be offered at
UKC Conformation and Specialty shows.
All classes are listed in the order that they will be Judged, and
will be Judged AFTER Best of Breed class.
Novice Puppy Class:
Male or Female, for intact dogs that are 3 months of age and under 6 months.
If both sexes, a class will be held for each sex, than a Best of Breed Novice
Puppy will be held.
Stud Dog Class:
Each entry in this class will consist of a Stud Dog and at least 2 but not more
than 4 dogs sired by this Stud. The Progeny must be at least 3 months of
age, ither sex, and at least 2 must be entered in licensed classes. Entry must
be made in Stud dog's name. Neutered dogs ARE allowed.
Brood Bitch Class:
Same applies here as seen above in Stud Dog. Entry must be made in the
name of Brood Bitch. Spayed bitches ARE allowed.
Brace Class:
Each entry shall consist of two dogs handled by a single handler. This class
shall be Judged on the basis of overall quality of the entry and the similarity
of the 2 dogs in type, size, and markings. The purpose of this class is to
reward high quality within consistent type. The Judge may give up to 4
placements in this class. Dogs must be 6 months of age or older, intact,
permanently registered with UKC or have TL # on day of show.
Veteran Class:
This class shall consist of dogs seven years of age or older and may be
divided by sex. The purpose of this class is to reward dogs that maintain
good breed type and good condition as they age and to give other breeders
an opportunity to see top dogs of the past. The Judge may give up to 4
placements in this class. Dogs must be registered with the UKC or have a
valid TL # day of show. Spayed or neutered dogs are allowed in this class.
Altered Dog Class:
This class shall consist of purebred dogs 6 months of age and older that
have been spayed or neutered. This class shall be divided by sex. The Judge
shall award one winner in each class, Best Altered Male and Best Altered
Female, then both shall compete for Best Altered Dog of Breed. All entries
must be UKC registered or have a TL # day of show.
Junior Showmanship classes will be judged at the beginning of each show.
The first 2 classes listed here ( Pee Wee and Sub-Junior )MAY or MAY NOT
be offered by club.
Pee Wee Class:
For children two years of age and under 4 years. A parent/guardian/adult
MUST be present in ring and are allowed to assist child with showing.
Sub-Junior Class:
For children four years of age and under 8 years. A parent/guardian/adult
MUST be present in ring and are allowed to assist child with showing.
Novice Junior Class: ( children 8 years and under 13 years)
This class is for any Junior who has never earned a Best Junior Handler
award with competition or who has not earned three 1st place wins from
the Novice Junior class.
Open Junior Class:
This class is for any Junior who has earned a Best Junior Handler award
with competition from the Novice Junior class or who has earned three
1st place wins from Novice Junior class with competition.
Novice Senior Class: ( children 13 years and under 19 years)
This class is for any Senior who has never earned a Best Jr Handler
award with competition or who has not earned three 1st place wins from
the Novice Jr class with competition.
Open Senior Class:
This class is for any Senior who has earned a Best Jr Handler award
with competition from the Novice Jr class or Novice Sr class or who has
earned three 1st place wins from the Novice Jr or Novice Sr class with
competition
